Redundancy

A redundancy situation can arise in one of four ways:

  • the employer stops trading altogether;
  • the employer trades at more than one location but decides to shut one of its business premises;
  • the employer has no further need for employees to do a certain job; or
  • the employer needs to reduce the number of employees overall.
