National Minimum Wage

Entitlement to the National Minimum Wage (NMW)

Workers who ordinarily work in the United Kingdom and are over school leaving age are entitled to be paid at least the national minimum wage. It makes no difference when the worker is paid, how they are paid, the number of hours they work or whether they work at the employer’s premises or not. Furthermore, a worker cannot agree to be paid less than the NMW and any contract which claims to show such an agreement will have no legal effect.
